Back to America
Two words. It almost doesn't matter who says it, one can feel themselves breathe easier, let their shoulders drop, and get ready to kick their shoes off. Our journey home included a flight from Madrid to London, transfer of airports, and an 8-hour flight back to America. (I don't know when my kids started calling our home country "America", I've always said "United States"; same country but somehow, it sounds so different.) Winding our way through the airport to customs and immigration, the officer stamped our passports, and the kids cheered as he said those 2 words - "Welcome Home."
